The Mission:

Oris’s continuing mission to clean, restore and protect the world’s water, the source of life, continues with a new collaboration with Billion Oyster Project. To drive awareness and show support, Oris introduces a 2,000 piece limited edition Aquis diver’s watch to represent this great cause.

The Vision:

Billion Oyster Project is a pioneering non-profit, working to restore New York Harbor’s oyster population. The project’s vision is to restore one billion oysters to the city’s waterways by 2025.

New York Harbor was once home to 220,000 acres of oyster reefs several centuries ago. Over time, as New York City grew to be a global hub for trade and shipping, the harbor became one of the world’s most polluted waterways and marine life vanished. The Billion Oyster Project began in 2014 trying to rectify these issues and has now introduced 75 million juvenile oysters to 18 restoration sites in New York Harbor.

Recognising that conservation efforts would be futile without educating current and future generations, this project has bought volunteers, students, local schools and businesses together to help achieve the vision as one.

A Pearl of an Idea:

The signature feature of Oris’s new release is the striking green mother-of-pearl dial, a powerful symbol of an incredible cause. The dial is inspired by the colour of the famous harbor’s water and oyster shells.

The dial is complimented with a matching rubber strap, bracelet and a strap change tool inside its special presentation box.

Housed within a 41.50 stainless steel case, the watch is powered by the Oris 733 movement, with a 38 hour reserve. The screwed case back features a special engraving in further celebration of this cause.
